Introduction
PathLab Medical Laboratories Ltd (PathLab), incorporated in 1975, provides clinical diagnostic laboratory testing services to doctors, hospitals, insurance, and other medical institutions.

PathLab is a HOKLAS ISO 15189 accredited laboratory (since 2006) with a large scope of accredited tests in many laboratory disciplines. PathLab has a comprehensive menu of in-house tests and an established referral lab service to the USA, UK, and other parts of the world. We deliver our service with well-defined procedures, state-of-the-art equipment, and experienced staff, enabling it to offer doctors and their patients a reliable and timely service.

PathLab’s headquarters and main laboratory are in Fortress Hill, Hong Kong. In addition, our branches located in Central, Causeway Bay, Mong Kok, and Tsim Sha Tsui. All have outpatient phlebotomy, resting ECG, and courier services.
A team of dedicated professionals
Staff loyalty is essential for organizational success. Our management team has been with us for many years: a crucial key to PathLab’s reputation and steady growth over the decades. We have a group of about 140 persons, including over 40 registered medical technologists; other staff members include laboratory assistants, phlebotomists, clerical, administrative, and courier staff.
Client-centered service and operational efficiency
We aim to be helpful to our medical clients and act as a reliable service center for laboratory testing. Laboratory testing generally involves pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical aspects. Starting with sample pickup from the clinics or with phlebotomy services to patients, sample processing and testing, and finally, releasing results via electronic or paper means, all of which involve meticulous coordination and management. We endeavor to serve all of our clients to the best ability.

As a significant percentage of medical decisions rely on laboratory results, we prioritize providing reliable, timely results with friendly and helpful service. In addition to instrumentation, laboratories also rely on having responsible individuals with integrity involved in the testing process. Much of PathLab’s resources are dedicated to training, quality assurance, fulfilling accreditation requirements, and investing in instrumentation from reputable manufacturers. Doctors’ feedback regarding our service or results is highly appreciated and is an essential contributor to refining the processes in our laboratory.
Quality Management
Accreditation

PathLab achieved international standard accreditation in 2006 (HOKLAS ISO15189). Accreditation involves assessments by third-party professionals, and in our case, pathologists, scientists, and medical technologists from the Hospital Authority, Department of Health, etc. The international standard assesses compliance for quality and competence. PathLab is accredited in many disciplines, including Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Molecular Genetics, Immunology, Virus Serology, and Clinical Microbiology & Infection.

Computerised workflow management
PathLab’s own Laboratory Information System (LIS) is called the “Genie.” Our LIS coordinates most of our analyzers in our laboratories in real-time using intelligent middleware. Patient specimens, sample components, and paperwork are bar-coded and tracked throughout the system, providing accountability.
